Shipwrecked sailor Edward Parker is stranded on a tropical island inhabited by Dr. Moreau, a scientist who conducts brutal experiments to transform animals into partial humans. Parker's attempt to escape the island is thwarted by Dr. Moreau's cadre of beasts and by the scientist's desire to use the sailor in one of his experiments.
