Kevin Costner donned the green tights for this highly enjoyable version of the English classic. TV comic Mike McShane made a splendid Friar Tuck, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio was a luminous Maid Marian but a dastardly Alan Rickman stole the show - and a Best Supporting Actor Oscar - as a pantomime Sheriff of Nottingham. A swashbuckling joy that puts even the Errol Flynn version to the sword.
